Fitness Competition Success

She wanted to do a Fitness Competition and WOW did she do it!

Congratulations to Sheila Liddle!!! This weekend she competed in her very first Fitness Competition at the UFE Revolution show and came home with two 1’st place trophies and one 3’rd! Whoot Whoot!!!

Sheila came to me this past December and said she wanted to do a Fitness Competition and would I be her coach? Uhm “NO” was my first response. “I am a Personal Trainer NOT a Fitness Competition Coach”.   “If you want to win you need someone that knows what they are doing”. Sheila was adamant on having me work with her and I finally agreed but she was not allowed to call me her coach, as I do not qualify for that title. I considered myself more as a friend helping a friend. We would learn as we go and just have fun with no expectations.

Sheila is naturally a tiny person with the energy of a kid on Christmas morning! I needed to get her lean and toned without looking like Twiggy (you young ones might have to Google who twiggy is). I felt her muscle mass needed to match her frame in order for her to look proportioned.

We started out with X amount of calories and then broke it down into Macros. Our training sessions were often longer then necessary since we always seemed to chat a lot and sometimes we worked out together.  Sheila had lots of homework as well but settled into a routine very quickly. Too quickly! She began to lose too much weight so back to the drawing board it was. We increased her calories, changed her macros and cut back on the crazy amount of cardio she loved to do.

This whole experience has been a blast not only for Sheila but selfishly myself as well. Thank you Sheila for insisting I be a part of your experience, it’s been quite the ride!

Sliding into 50

Sheila Liddle

When I first entertained the idea of training for a fitness competition I was looking for something new and challenging. Fitness has always been a big part of my life and this seemed like a good fit. My 50th birthday was coming up and what better way to slide into 50, hopefully stronger than I’d ever been. I had 5 months to train for the competition, which included a strict meal plan, and daily workouts of weight training and/or cardio with only one rest day per week. As daunting as that might sound, I loved every minute of it. I was amazed at how the body so easily adapts and changes when supported with proper nutrition and workout regime. I started noticing a difference right away, which only fuelled me on. Anyone can do anything, you just have to want it. And I wanted it. We may not be getting younger every day, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get better every day.

Before & After Training For Fitness Competition

Thanks to Shelley Greig for her “coaching” even though I am not allowed to call her my coach. To Christy Wolfe for my fabulous suit and to my family for all their love and support.  Sliding into 50 has been an awesome experience!
